Listening With Harlem River

Join BCA for Alethea Pace’s Harlem River Artist Residency finale: film, live performance & panel on stewardship of the Harlem River. Join us as we share the process and discoveries from the Harlem River Artist Residency, a year-long project engaging Bronx community members in reimagining the Harlem River as a living entity with memory, history, and rights. The afternoon includes: Come Daylight — a short film retracing the path of Cromwell Creek, a long-buried creek that once fed into the Harlem River. Shot by Marquis Bradshaw and Alexander Diaz and featuring an original song composed by Lucia della Paolera & Gobby, COTC NYC. Is Not Yet — excerpts from a new performance work-in-progress that draws on the Bronx’s forgotten environmental histories to imagine a future where nature is kin. Performed by Dominica Greene and Alethea Pace. Panel Discussion— a conversation on how storytelling across disciplines can shift us towards ecocentrism. Featuring Libertad Guerra/ The Clemente, Kevin Schneider/ Earth Law Center, Eric Sanderson/ New York Botanical Garden, and moderated by Andrea Ambam/ Level Forward. The event invites audiences not just to watch, but to listen — to place, to one another, and to the possibility of a more reciprocal relationship with the land and water that sustain us. Runtime: approximately 90 minutes including discussion. Notice of Filming Please note that this event will be documented through photo and video recording. By attending, you consent to potentially being captured in documentation used for archival, educational, and promotional purposes.
