URGENT MESSAGE for Residents of Bellerose Important Reminder - Town Hall opposing City of Yes Tomorrow BCCA Co-Sponsors Vote No to June 1 at 11:00am at MS 172 Please spread the word, bring your friends an neighbors! Car pool, bike ride, skate board, whatever, just get there! What’s it all about? We are in a fight for our lives to maintain the middle-class quality of life we love in our communities. In 2023, Mayor Eric Adams introduced the City of Yes program proposing massive changes to manufacturing, commercial and, especially, residential zoning throughout New York City. Most impacted in his residential (“Housing Opportunity”) plan would be in our low-density residential neighborhoods. If passed and implemented numerous changes would all be available to developers as-of-right that would affect our communities forever. · one-and two-family zoning would be eliminated, making way for larger, multi-family homes, · Accessory Dwelling Units, or ADUs, such as basement, attic and garage apartment conversions and “tiny” rear yard houses could remove valuable green space and introduce a more transient population, and further stress our schools and infrastructure, · Smaller lot size and yard requirements and increases in FAR would further reduce daylight and green space, cramming more and larger houses in any lot that becomes available, · off-street parking requirements would be eliminated, increasing street congestion (and competing with ever-expanding bike lanes), especially where no mass transit is available, · new apartment buildings would be permitted on commercial strips (“Town Centers”) and would dominate private homes in communities near transit hubs (“Transit-Oriented Development”), · Churches or
